Rowley’s Bay: Nature at its Best

View Community Knowledge Bank | View All Rowley’s Bay Area MLS Properties

Rowley's Bay was once a prosperous logging area with a sawmill, post office and a small hotel on the bay shore. A popular resort restaurant and a campground still host visitors to this area where a French missionary first walked ashore in 1686. The cross on the shoreline is a replica of one built by Jesuit missionaries in the late 1600's. The bay bears the name of Peter Rowley, who settled this point in 1835.

Just to the south of Rowley’s Bay, and four miles east of Ellison Bay on the Lake Michigan shore lies the gateway to the Mink River estuary. The Nature Conservancy shoreline of pristine wilderness is the home of many rare plants, birds and animal life. There are evergreen and hardwood forests, wetlands, and upland meadows. It’s a great place to fish or just let your canoe gently drift down the Mink River from Rowley’s Bay.

Rowley’s Bay is an ideal retreat for those who would like to enjoy Door County, but settle in at night away from the true hustle and bustle of the Bayside communities.  When you're ready to buy or sell real estate in or around Rowley’s Bay, Wisconsin, please let Properties of Door County help you purchase the home or property of your dreams. Contact Properties of Door County today.
